Welcome to NJSCUA's Website:
|
|
|
Welcome to the home of the New Jersey ’s newest Cricket League, The New Jersey State Cricket & Umpire's Association (NJSCUA) on the web. NJSCUA was established in February 2009 by 3 like minded individuals, who would want to see the betterment of Cricket & Umpiring in the area while at the same time, enjoy playing cricket on weekends, the way it should be; cheaper for our Members, clean & free from 'politics' & 'power hungry' individuals.
Our games are played primarily on Sunday afternoon’s at various locations throughout the length and breadth of NJ / NY / Philly area, as far away as Spring Valley , NY in the North & Voorhees Twp., NJ / Philly area in the South.
Take a look at our schedule and come see a game or two over the course of the season. We generally begin the season on the first weekend of May and end in the middle of September. There's always someone around who knows the game and will be very willing to share that knowledge.
NJSCUA always welcomes new supporters and enthusiasts. If you've just moved to the area or are just finding out about cricket in New Jersey, and you would like to join the League as a team or play for a member club, send an email or directly call the club or the League Executive Committee. Last but not least, if you have umpiring skills and would like to join our list of official umpires, please call our Umpiring Coordinator. Check the list for phone numbers and email addresses.
If you're a fan of the game then we welcome you to a relaxing weekend afternoon - we hope to see you soon. If you're a player or an Umpire, then good luck and we'll see you on the field!.

Historic Day today off Sorts for NJSCUA
|
Friday, May 07, 2010 |
|
Hello all,
Today is one of the historic days in the League's History due to the fact that we have successfully secured a "major" sponsorship deal in our hands!!!
Rarely does a weekend go by, during the cricket season in the USA, with no complaints about Umpires’ decisions or players’ conduct. All of that is a thing of past and WILL change in NJSCUA pretty soon.
As most of you know by now, NJSCUA is the non-profit body, striving continually for the interests of our members, cricket Players& Umpires, to continually develop and promote high-quality cricket & Umpiring, to establish and sustain NJSCUA as a prominent Cricket League and an symbol of Cricket in the area.
NJSCUA believes Quality Umpiring has been and continues to be one of the corner-stones on which the growth of NJSCUA and overall improvement in the standard of cricket hinges on.
TO this effect, NJSCUA is proud to be associated with an "anonymous" sponsor (name will be revealed later) and both organizations have teamed up with one common vision/goal, the betterment of Umpiring standards and our commitment to our members to provide better and well equipped/trained Umpires so that no team loses a game due to an Umpire's incompetence or Umpire's bias.
I'm particularly happy that our vision on investing on the Umpire's have been recognized and shared by someone who has come forward to help us out as well. I'm hoping this is just the beginning and there will be more such sponsorships on the way. :-)
As a part of this sponsorship commitment, NJSCUA will have to try its best and appoint 2 Umpire for each regular season games, in a way that teams will NOT be ADDITIONALLY burdened & to eliminate a batting team player to do the Striker's end duty. Teams will continue to pay ONLY for 1 Umpire (for all Regular Season games) but the expenses for other Umpire will be borne by the League.
This is also our way of saying thank you for participating in our League. :-)
Please join me in "generously" thanking this "generous" and "anonymous" sponsor.
Any questions, please let me know if you have any questions.
Regards
- Deepak

NJSCUA announces Sunday, Sept 12, 2010 as the start date for its upcoming 2nd Edition of T-20 Tournament. Mandatory T-20 RULES meeting on Friday, 08/27/2010.
|
Friday, August 20, 2010 |
Hello Member Teams,
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all for the 2nd edition of the NJSCUA T-20 Tournament, starting from Sunday, Sept 12, 2010
.
The Twenty20 format is key to our growth as a League in the area. We are very encouraged by the response we received last year with a total of 18 teams participating in our Inaugural T-20 tournament. We are again honored to have as many as 14 teams associated with us, in what is our biggest cricket tournament of the year. We hope that this tournament continues to serve as a catalyst in Cricket's growth in NJ area.
In its 2010 version as well, the Winners and Runners-up of the NJSCUA T20 will each get a trophy. There are no cash prizes, however there will be a surprise award that will be announced during the meeting. For the FINALS, there will also be prizes for the Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best Fielder and the MVP. Also, each match will also have a “Man of the Match” adjudicated by the umpires and such players will get certificates.
We at NJSCUA will strive to make this 2nd edition, a well organized and a memorable tournament for everyone. We hope all of you will enjoy this very exciting and competitive format of cricket that is coming our way.
As a first step in that direction and in order to make sure that all the teams/Umpires are on the same page in terms of the NJSCUA T-20 rules, NJSCUA has organized a MANDATORY meeting of member clubs and Umpires on Friday, 8/27/10 at 6.30 pm SHARP, at ShriHari B's residence, located @ 32 Emily Rd, Manalapan NJ 07726.
Tentative agenda for the meeting would be as follows;
6.30 PM to 7 PM -> General assembly & Dinner
7.00 PM to 8.30 PM -> Meeting starts where Deepak will go over the T-20 rules.
8.30 PM to 9.00 PM -> Q & A
9.00 PM to 9.30 PM -> Distribution of Balls (to all teams) and League Logos (to the new teams...15 numbers will be given free to each new team and any extra logo needed is $2 PER LOGO.)
The league is taking so much pain to arrange/prepare for this meeting & the purpose of the meeting is many folded as below and it's importance will without a doubt bear fruits;
1) It gives an opportunity for the League to meet with teams and vice-versa
2) It gives an opportunity for the new/old teams to meet with each other
3) We need to hand over the balls to all the teams and logos to the newer teams.
4) More importantly, we need to go over the T-20 Rules with all the teams/umpires so that everyone is ideally on the same page.
5) It gives an opportunity for the teams to ask any question or seek any clarification with regards to the rules.
Due to space limitation, we would appreciate if ONLY one or a max of 2 representatives from each team make it to the meeting.
It is IMPERATIVE that at least one person from your team attends this meeting so long as they can effectively rely back the info to your team captain/entire team.
In addition to all of these, the 'Rules and Publication' page of the League website has been updated with the FINALIZED version of T-20 Rules and Game Summary, for the benefit of Teams and Umpire's alike. The intention of posting this 2 weeks in advance from the tournament start time is to establish a 'plain field' to all the teams and also give ample time for anyone to go through and seek clarification for any items.
At the meeting, food & beverages will be served to all attendees who may be driving directly from work.
One other important thing to note is that, the Roster FREEZES at 6 PM on 08/27/2010 and no more additions or player changes will be allowed after this time. This has also been communicated to all the teams well ahead of time.
Please feel free to contact me or any of the NJSCUA Executives with any questions or concerns you may have.
Once again, I welcome you all aboard.
Thank you
- Deepak Katte

NJSCUA Proudly Starts the Application Process for its Second Edition of T-20 Tournament
|
Monday, July 26, 2010 |
The New Jersey State Cricket and Umpires’ Association (NJSCUA), New Jersey’s newest league, was founded in Feb-2009 by three individuals: Deepak Katte, Govind Itwaru and Syed Ahmed.
NJSCUA is a non–political, US Federal and New Jersey State registered non–profit 501 (c) (7) organization.
NJSCUA is on the verge of completing a very successful second season and looking forward to our second edition of T20 competition.
The inaugural T20 competition, held in 2009, had 18 teams participating in a race to the razzmatazz (i.e. the snazzy hardware the League had designed and secured for the winners).
One of NJSCUA’s permanent member clubs, Pak-AM CC (short for “Pakistani American” Cricket Club) had emerged the winners on that occasion, beating League rivals the Berbice Royals in an exciting Final Match (click on the link for the complete scorecard), played
at the Naaman Williams Park in Franklin Park/ Somerset, New Jersey.
Here are some pictures and videos from the 2009 T20 Finals.
Winners:
In its 2010 version as well, the Winners and Runners-up of the NJSCUA T20 will each get a trophy. There are no cash prizes. For the FINALS, there will also be prizes for the Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best Fielder and the MVP. Also, each match will also have a “Man of the Match” adjudicated by the umpires and such players will get certificates.
Participation:
Fully completed application forms along with a check for $350 (which includes a non-refundable fee of $275 and a refundable deposit of $75) made out to "NJSCUA" and a copy of ground permit (if interested teams are in possession of one) should be mailed over to the address mentioned in the application form, before the deadline of August 14th 2010.
Check here for the FAQ's about this tournament.
NJSCUA - T-20 Flyer & FAQ (.pdf)
The application form can be downloaded from http://NJSCUA.com ( 'Rules and Publication' option) or by clicking on the link below;
NJSCUA - T-20 Membership Application Form - 2010 & FAQ (.pdf)
This tournament is open for participation to any/every Cricketer/Teams in the Tri-State area & not just limited to NJ Cricketer's / Team's. We are encouraging teams to invite the best cricketers that they can access.
Teams and Format:
The league is looking to enlist anywhere between 12 to a max of 16 teams, on a "first come first served basis" for this tournament as that seems to be a “manageable” number for them, given the time, weather and ground limitations. An exact number will be known after the application deadline expires and the applicants are vetted by the League’s Executive.
The tournament shall be played with white cricket balls and league-approved color clothing (Non-White), with matching Batting and Keeping Pads (Non-White again) forming the essential clothing/equipment. Matches will primarily be held on Sundays and are being planned by the League organizers to last no more than 4 to 6 weeks from start to finish, with two T20 games played at each venue on each match day.
Grounds:
The grounds currently available to the league through their existing member teams/ clubs are listed on their website, http://NJSCUA.com

Monday, May 03, 2010 |
Hello All,
Firstly, I would like to thank all the umpires/sponsors/participants/volunteers/member teams from yesterday's game for organizing/helping and making this event an astounding success. The overwhelming majority indicated the future Season Inaugural games to be played along these lines.
I'm particularly proud of what I was told by various individuals associated with different Cricket Leagues in the area, who had come to witness the game. According to them, NJSCUA is "...raising the bar & setting a new benchmark..." for others to follow. This surely is reflective of all the planning & hard work, that has happened behind the scenes, that has been put together by individuals responsible for making this happen. Congratulations and hats off to those individuals responsible for making the event a grand success.
Please join me in congratulating both, the Winners of the game, Royals CC as well as the Runner-Up team, the President's XI. The game was played in true competitive spirit and Cricket was the ultimate winner on the day.
